Do you leave it behind? Do you wear it on another finger? What exactly should you do with your engagement ring when your wedding ring arrives?
Traditionally, the wedding and engagement rings are worn on the third finger of the left hand. This tradition was started when it was commonly thought that the vein from this finger led straight to the heart.
The wedding ring is always placed on the finger first so that it is closest to the heart with the engagement ring on top. Just before the wedding ceremony it is customary to change your engagement ring to the third finger of your right hand so that your wedding ring can be correctly placed on your left-hand ring finger during the service. You can then move your engagement ring back to the left hand once the ceremony is over.
